The internet responds to the closure of Megaupload [LiveTicker]

The short story… The US Justice department has closed down the megaupload network and arrested it’s founders. Anonymous has responded by taking down several prominent organisation’s websites.

The US Justice Department said that Megaupload’s two co-founders Kim Dotcom, formerly known as Kim Schmitz, and Mathias Ortmann were arrested in Auckland, New Zealand along with two other employees of the business at the request of US officials. It added that three other defendants were still at large. (source)

Whilst we do not support piracy, we do believe that such globally trending events should be shared with our readers.

What do you think? Is what Anonymous is doing right? Should any company anywhere be accountable to one country’s laws? It’s a grey area that needs to be exposed, explored and scrutinized.
